he Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) is conducted for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs (B.E / B. Tech) at NITs, IIITs, Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), Institutions / Universities funded / recognized by participating State Governments, as well as an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is conducted for admission to IITs.

The JEE (Main) is being conducted in multiple Sessions (February/March/April/May) for admissions in the next academic session. The candidates will thus benefit in the following ways:

Benefit 1

This will give multiple opportunities to the candidates to improve their scores in the examination if they fail to give their best in the first attempt without wasting their whole academic year.

Benefit 2

In first attempt, the students will get a first-hand experience of taking an examination and will know their mistakes which they can improve while attempting for the next time.

Benefit 3

This will reduce the chances of dropping a year and droppers would not have to waste a full year.

Benefit 4

If anyone missed the examination due to reasons beyond control, then he/she will not have to wait for one full year.

JEE Main Syllabus includes topics covered in Class 11 and 12 Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics syllabus as per the NCERT contents. There is a new pattern for JEE Main exam. There are three papers instead of two.  Paper 1 is for students aspiring for B.E./B.Tech courses in NITs, IIITs, DTU, and CFTIs. Paper 2A is for B.Arch. Paper 2B is for B.Planning courses offered by these institutes.

Paper 1

  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Chemistry

The examination duration is 3 hours (180 minutes) There are 30 questions each from Physics and Chemistry and Mathematics. Each question carries 4 marks weightage for the correct answer and 1 mark negative weightage for the wrong answer.

Paper 2A

  • Mathematics
  • Aptitude
  • Drawing Test

Total questions asked in the paper are 82 out of which students can attempt 77 questions (Mathematics- 25, Aptitude- 50, Drawing- 2). Candidates can choose to answer any 5 out of the 10 numerical value-based questions in the Mathematics section.

Paper 2B

  • Mathematics
  • Aptitude
  • Planning based questions

Total questions asked in the paper are 105 out of which students can attempt 100 questions.Candidates can choose to answer any 5 out of the 10 numerical value-based questions in the Mathematics section.

  • Paper 1

The pattern of 30 questions has two sections in each subject – Section A – 20 Questions Section B – 10 Questions Out of these 10 questions appearing in section B, candidates can attempt any 5 of these questions. Hence, the total number of questions and usage of time are the same. Hence total maximum marks are 300.
  • Paper 2A
